Doha is situated within Qatar and is one of seven emirate gulfs. The city is known as being a financial and legal hub. It attracts some of the worlds best international law firms and subsequently attracts the best lawyers from around the world. Therefore, many western qualified lawyers make the leap from cities such as London and New York to enhance and further their career. This region is also seen as the gate way to the Asia Pacific market.
What is the legal sector like?
Much like Dubai, Doha is known as a leading legal hub in the Middle East. The biggest sector is oil and gas as well as construction litigation. There is also a growing sector for banking and finance as some world leading banks are also located within the region.
What about work/life balance?
Doha is close to neighbouring UAE gulfs such as Dubai and Bahrain. Which means if you want a change of scene you can take a short flight to another city and explore other gulfs and what they have to offer. Qatar in general is seen to be more child friendly than Dubai. This is due to the incredibly low crime rates and Doha’s fantastic education system which includes private schools as well as state schools.
